In Connecticut, Comprehensive Special Education Teachers and Speech and Language Pathologists are currently federally designated educator shortage areas, and such individuals who are employed in Connecticut schools are eligible to apply for loan forgiveness in some federal loan programs and the state's Teachers Mortgage Assistance Program offered by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority if they purchase a home in a priority or transitional district.
